Workforce Services’ clothes closet needs refilling

Workforce Services’ clothes closet needs refilling

Plainfield Patch
     JOLIET – Ever look into your closet and bemoan that you’ve “got nothing to wear?” Imagine looking into an almost-empty closet and knowing there was nothing there to wear for a job interview or to go to work.
    For some job seekers, that’s the reality. With help from those who have enough to share, there is a way to help them get back in the workforce confident about what they’re wearing.
     Will County’s Workforce Services Division is looking for donations to restock its Clothes4Work clothing closet.
     “Helping each other is what good neighbors do,” said Will County Executive Larry Walsh. “And
 Will County residents are especially good about helping out wherever they can. Now is a time when many people are going through their closets as part of spring cleaning. Hopefully, they’ll remember Clothes4Work if they have suitable attire that they no longer want.”
     Currently, the clothes closet is in need of the following items:
     For women, black and gray dress pants and dress blouses, both long- and short-sleeved, in basic colors;
     For men, long- or short-sleeved button-down dress shirts, especially white, dress shoes and belts.
    WSD Administrative Manager Susan Flessner said about 15 to 20 people visit the clothes closet each month. Most are looking for something to wear to interviews, but some also need something to wear for a new job. The clothes are at no cost to those who need them.
     No appointments are necessary to visit the clothes closet. It is available during regular working hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, except holidays.
     Flessner said donations can be brought to the WSD offices on the fourth floor of the JJC City Center Campus building at 214 N. Ottawa St. She said pickup can be arranged at an office or business which holds a clothing drive for the closet.
    Call (815) 723-3870 with questions about Clothes4Work.
